The First Session

In which...

To his utter horror Solanthos discovered that the huge shipment of Hazia in his warehouse had been stolen and his partner of many seasons, Ponzil the fruiterer, disappeared. In only days Solanthos was due to repay an enormous debt to Ruuz the Carmanian, yet his resources were far from adequate to do so. He was looking for a quick out, and hear rumour his partner had left by the west gate only this very morning.

Zlatos arrived in Pavis to tell his cousin Solanthos he had resigned his commission and was headed to Balazar to seek his fortune. He had already arranged the purchase of a suitable slave to act as a guide, and sought aid in his travel.

Vajaan the Cook, was told to pack his belongings, as a new master would be along shortly to take him away.

Esvana, a devout Ernaldan, seeking guidance from her priestess, was told to head north of the Rockwoods to find a treasure of the Godtimes to aid the Sisterhood in the days to come.

Braemar learned the local authorities were aware of his conspiratorial activities and his participation in the mass murder of Pelorian treasure-hunters, sought a rapid exit from the area, and lucked into a naive lady in search of a guide to the Rockwoods.

... this hapless group managed to form a hasty caravan bound for Swenstown and Sartar, and avoiding the heat affected gaze of the gate guard set forth to the West. Only hours into their journey the group came across the remains of a battle, several dead and one dying, the last remainders of Ponzil's caravan. The dying man, Brights Dawnguard, a former fileman under Zlatos, tells of Ponzil's betrayal, conniving with bandits to surrender the caravan and slaughter his guard. He hands Zlatos a scroll detailing an newly discovered inheritance he wishes delivered to his family. The Scroll is written in the Wyrmish tongue.

Following the trail of the Sable riding bandits, over days of journeying Braemar leads the group into the Eiritha hills and the sacred grounds of The Paps itself. There it is discovered that Ponzil is trading sacks of grain to a Third Eye smith for the safe return of his wife. Puzzled at the exchange, the group investigates and finds the sacks also contain ingots of valuable Iron.

In which our heroes

While I'm starting the blog well after the campaign started, the initial player characters for the game are...

Solanthos Dawngold of Pavis - A merchant of Pavis and worshipper of Lokarnos the Wagoner, more inclined to knife you in the kidneys than give up a profit. Solanthos has decided Pavis is a place best left far behind after his partner of two years, Ponzil the Fruiterer, has betrayed him and abandoned Solanthos to manage sizeable debt's to a very intemperate man.

Zlatos Skybright - a Yelmalian mercenary of Sun County, regretably leaving his homeland after suffering demotion and humiliation following the circulation of unbecoming murmurs among his fellows. Zlatos seeks his fortune in Balazar, having heard from Pelorian merchants the Lightsons of Yelmalio there ride Giant Hawks into battle.

Vajaan, a slave and cook of Balazaring descent, purchased by Zlatos to act as guide and translator in Balazar. Though raised by adoptive parents, also slaves from Balazar, and was taught some of their ways, he has failed to mention to his master he has not set foot in this far off land since the age of six.

Esvana of Sartar, an initiate of Ernalda guided by visions granted to the temple mothers. She has been sent to recover a treasure of the Godtimes for the glory of Ernalda, fleeing a heart left desolate by the failure of her rebellious kin, and yearning for future freedom.

Braemar Rubbleguide, an passionate man of staunch Anti-Lunar convictions and otherwise loose moral fibre. Fleeing a warrant for his arrest following an ambush and subsequent slaughter of adventurous Lunars in the rubble. His heart is ruled by hatred and fear.

Slaava Goosetavn, a journeyman smith of Third Eye Blue stock, whose skills have been purchased from his father by Solanthos. Surly, disrespectful and cock-sure, he has an eye for fine metal and foreign ladies.

When last we saw our erstwhile band...
